Explore ProductsIngredients & Raw Materials
Which raw materials are used in the products?
Each product's raw materials are listed on that product's own page, in the Full Ingredient List and Featured Ingredients sections. Because this information is specific to each product, the accurate, up-to-date list is only available on that product's own page.
Explore ProductsWhat does it mean for a raw material to be included in a product?
A raw material can serve a specific role within a formulation — for example flavor, texture, or a traditional-use rationale. The existence of scientific literature about an ingredient does not mean the finished MESA product has been clinically proven for the same effect. These are two different things, and our Scientific Research library makes that distinction explicit.
View Scientific ResearchIs a natural ingredient automatically safer?
Being naturally derived does not, on its own, guarantee that an ingredient is safe or effective. Safety needs to be considered together with the substance itself, the amount used, how it is used, quality, and the relevant scientific evidence.
Where can I see the scientific research on an ingredient?
You can review scientific publications related to ingredients in our Scientific Research library. For every publication, the library presents both its evidence level and its formulation relevance.
View Scientific ResearchScientific Research
Do the studies in the Scientific Research section prove the products' effects?
No. The Scientific Research Library presents scientific publications related to the ingredients used in MESA products. The existence of a publication does not automatically mean the finished MESA product has been clinically proven. For every publication, the library states both its evidence level and its formulation relevance separately, and the two should be read together.
View Scientific ResearchWhy is the evidence level shown as "Limited" or "Insufficient" for some ingredients?
MESA deliberately avoids presenting available scientific evidence as stronger than it is. A "Limited" or "Insufficient" classification means the available literature is not strong enough to support a confident conclusion for the specific research question or use it was reviewed for. It does not mean that no scientific literature exists on that ingredient, or that the ingredient is ineffective.
View Scientific ResearchWhat does "Indirect" formulation relevance mean?
An "Indirect" classification means research exists that relates to the ingredient, but the study may differ from MESA's exact preparation, extract or species, dose, route of administration, intended use, or finished formulation. For that reason, the research is not presented as direct evidence for the finished product.
View Scientific ResearchWhy isn't there a scientific study for every ingredient?
Our Scientific Research library is being expanded in stages, prioritizing publications that can be responsibly connected to our ingredients. An ingredient not yet having a publication in the library does not mean no scientific literature exists on it anywhere — it simply means that review is still in progress.
